Addressing evolving threats

Milipol Qatar is a premier international exhibition and conference focusing on homeland security, public safety, and defence technology. The event has established itself as the leading platform for showcasing and discussing innovations in security technologies across the Middle East, bringing together government agencies, security professionals, industry experts and major companies from around the world.

Under the patronage of the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) H E Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani inaugurated the 15th edition of the Milipol Qatar Exhibition and Conference, the global event for internal security and safety, yesterday.

The 2024 edition of Milipol Qatar is organised under the theme “Technology in the Service of Security,” emphasising the transformative role of emerging technologies in security operations. With over 250 international and national companies specialising in internal security and safety, along with six major international pavilions, it features over 350 official delegations, demonstrating the exhibition’s global importance. This year’s event highlights key areas like cybersecurity, AI, urban safety, and emergency response. A central attraction is the AI-focused conference, “Artificial Intelligence for Internal Security and Safety,” where global experts will explore very pertinent and important topics like AI and smart technologies, AI in security work, AI ethics and the security opportunities and challenges posed by AI.

Underscoring the importance of technology and innovation in this edition of Milipol Qatar, yesterday, after the inauguration, H E the Minister of Interior unveiled the Qatar Digital Identity app, which is expected to be a gamechanger in the way people will manage important documents. The smart application will provide digital versions of ID cards and documents, allowing users to access various electronic services without the need for physical documents. It facilitates numerous services within the country, enabling access and activation through biometric data. The app also simplifies obtaining electronic services on the Ministry of Interior’s website.

The event enables professionals to stay informed about cutting-edge solutions that enhance urban and national security while addressing evolving threats. The three-day event will include seminars on various security topics, such as cybersecurity, civil defence, and airport and border security, with 15 presentations scheduled in this edition.  Milipol Qatar serves as a unique convergence point for industry leaders, policymakers, and technology innovators, enabling comprehensive discussions that will shape the future of security and public safety in the Middle East. Through its emphasis on collaborative solutions, training, and real-world applications, Milipol continues to enhance the region’s preparedness for emerging security challenges.
