Since winning the right to host the FIFA World Cup in 2010, Qatar has overcome many challenges including the recent COVID-19 pandemic to stay on track to deliver a blockbuster football showpiece. Now, with less than three weeks to go in the first ever World Cup in the Middle East and the Arab world, the Gulf state is all set to stage what FIFA President Gianni Infantino often predicts to be the best edition in the World Cup history.
Qatar made herculean efforts over the years to ensure complete readiness to stage the game’s biggest spectacle, leaving no stone unturned. Building the mega infrastructure including the state-of-the-art stadiums well ahead of time is unprecedented and the entire world has acknowledged the country’s determination.
There is more difficult task ahead as the big show is approaching fast. Since it is the most compact version of the FIFA World Cup in the modern history, it will bring new challenges and Qatari organisers are well aware and they have prepared for it accordingly. All the arrangements are in place for example accommodation for an estimated 1.2 million fans from across the globe has been ensured.
When it comes to the participating teams, Qatar 2022 could be termed the best ever because of training facilities of their choice and less travel times for the players during matches due to tournament’s compact nature as all eight stadiums are located within an hour’s travel from each other.
Qatar’s unprecedented preparations are already earning worldwide praise, with many official and international media organisations convinced that Qatar will stage a spectacular World Cup. The country’s security arrangements have also received thumbs up, with Commander of United States Central Command General Michael Kurilla among the ones, who have expressed confidence in Qatar’s ability to host a safe and distinguished World Cup edition.
With Qatar reaching new milestones in its quest to make history, the country is being targeted by some with a smear campaign in an effort to mar the historic World Cup. However, such efforts are doomed to fail against Qatar’s great resolve as despite the campaign, which is based on misinformation, Qatar will succeed by hosting the best ever World Cup.
When Qatar will welcome all the visiting fans with an open heart during the November 20 to December 18 tournament, they will experience the country’s rich culture and hospitality themselves, and all this false propaganda will fade away. The successful Qatar 2022 will open the door for more FIFA showpiece events in the region in future.
