The State of Qatar maintains a firm and unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause, consistently prioritising it within its international agenda. This commitment is deeply rooted in the hearts and minds of the people of Qatar, and for over 75 years, the nation has provided political, financial, and moral support to the Palestinian people. This dedication is driven by steadfast principles, ethical values, and a commitment to human rights.
As the conflict in Gaza persists with Israeli attacks on civilians spanning over 80 days, the death toll has tragically surpassed 21,000, with a significant majority being children and women. Those who survive face the imminent threat of famine, lack of essential resources such as food, water, electricity, and medicines, exacerbated by the severe siege imposed by Israeli occupation forces.
Since the outset of the Israeli aggression, Qatari planes have been transporting aid to Al Arish city in Egypt, ensuring crucial assistance reaches the people of Gaza. In a recent development, two Qatari Armed Forces aircraft landed in Al Arish, delivering 49 tonnes of aid, including food, medical supplies, and shelter materials. This brings Qatar’s total aid flights for Gaza to 54, with a cumulative aid supplies of 1,642 tonnes.
Qatar’s support for the Palestinian people is a testament to its commitment to standing by them during their current ordeal. The dire conditions in Gaza, where airstrikes persist, demand the attention of the global human conscience. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has repeatedly called for urgent humanitarian aid and funding to address the escalating crisis, emphasising that current efforts fall short of meeting daily needs.
The catastrophic situation in Gaza has led to a desperate shortage of life-saving supplies, and ongoing airstrikes hinder humanitarian access while the international community observes. Hundreds of thousands of displaced individuals are seeking shelter in schools and hospitals, which have become targets for the Israeli army. UNRWA has been appealing for immediate access to humanitarian aid and critical funding for both food and non-food items for Palestine Refugees in need.
Amidst these challenging circumstances, the State of Qatar acknowledges a deep responsibility to extend a helping hand to those affected by the ongoing Israeli aggression against civilians in the Gaza Strip. In providing assistance, Qatar not only addresses immediate needs but also champions the Palestinian cause and their legitimate aspirations, including the right to establish their state on their national land, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in every international forum. Qatar’s unwavering efforts underscore its commitment to justice for the Palestinian people and condemnation of the significant injustices and oppression inflicted upon them by the Israeli occupation, which has resulted in loss of life, land seizures, and forced displacement.
