With its rich cultural heritage and strong religious values, Qatar embraces Eid Al Adha with immense enthusiasm and devotion and the festival holds a special place in the hearts of its people. The country has been preparing for Eid Al Adha in recent days with many popular streets adorned with colourful decorations, and markets filled with eager shoppers.
Citizens and residents alike gathered at the various mosques and grounds readied by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs around the country for prayer in the morning. This year thousands of people performed the Eid Al Adha prayer at the Education City Stadium. According to the organisers, the venue will become a permanent site for Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha prayers.
Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani performed Eid Al Adha prayer at Lusail praying area yesterday morning. Also performing the prayer were H H Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Speaker of the Shura Council H E Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanem, and a number of Their Excellencies sheikhs, ministers, members of the Shura Council, and other officials.
H H the Amir also tweeted his congratulations to all the people of Qatar and residents on Eid Al Adha, praying to Allah to make it a joyful Eid for them and for the Arab and Islamic nations.
In addition to the religious and cultural celebrations, there were various events and activities to mark the occasion. The festive atmosphere is palpable throughout the country, with families visiting parks, enjoying fireworks displays, and engaging in other activities organised at popular places like Katara, Doha Port and Lusail Boulevard.

Like His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Thaqeel bin Sayer Al Shammari, judge of the Court of Cassation and Supreme Judiciary Council member, explained while delivering the Eid sermon that Eid is a manifestation of the nation’s unity, a day of giving, piety and loyalty, urging to purify souls, purify hearts, repair them, uphold ties of kinship, and strengthen bonds between members of society.
