It’s time for the international community to address this crisis with greater honesty about the key players and solutions. The absence of a viable peace process and a growing loss of hope extends the volatility of the region and the continuous oppression of the Palestinian people.
Just yesterday, a Palestinian youth was wounded by a gas bomb when the Israeli occupation forces stormed Qalandia refugee camp, north of occupied Jerusalem.
According to the Qatar News Agency which cited the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), the young man was injured when the occupation soldiers threw a gas bomb towards his house in the camp last night.
Also, Israeli occupation forces and settler militias attacked helpless Palestinian civilians in towns and villages northwest of Nablus.
Qatar, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, condemned the brutal attacks on the defenceless Palestinian civilians in towns and called the attacks “an extension of the horrific and heinous crimes of the occupation against the Palestinian people, and a flagrant violation of human rights and international covenants.”
MoFA again stressed the need for the international community to move urgently to stop the repetitive Israeli attacks against the Palestinian people.
On average, Israeli forces and settlers killed 6 Palestinian children per month this year.
According to a TRT World report, Israeli forces and armed Israeli civilians have killed 78 Palestinian minors in the occupied West Bank and besieged Gaza, making 2021 the deadliest year on record for Palestinian children since 2014.
In Gaza, 61 Palestinian children were killed, while 15 Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem, were killed according to the figures released by Defence for Children International - Palestine.
Qatar is a substantial financial supporter of the Palestinian people. Earlier this year, Qatar pledged $500m to postwar reconstruction in Gaza. Qatar often serves as a mediator between Israel and Hamas, and it has contributed significantly to humanitarian and development aid to support past cease-fires.
Meanwhile, the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with several Palestinian bodies to supply the besieged Gaza strip with much-needed fuel.
The Shura Council also recently stressed its support to the Palestinian cause during the 16th conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC) in Istanbul.
