Qatar is all set to host first FIFA Arab Cup this week. To make the event memorable for visitors and residents alike, a number of colourful activities have been chalked out which will be celebrated at Doha Corniche. Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) is one of them.

Thanks to excellent handling of COVID-19 pandemic by joint efforts of government entities, Qatar is not only hosting sporting events successfully but also organising such a vibrant cultural activities.

The authorities concerned have developed a complete plan in preparation for the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup, which starts on Tuesday with the participation of 16 teams. The Doha Corniche which was closed yesterday will open on December 5.

The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar has also launched the Doha Lights Festival, which will take place alongside the Corniche. The Doha Lights Festival will contribute to promoting local tourism, as it takes place during the FIFA Arab Cup. It is also unique as it offers a variety of creative spectacles that suit all ages.

The Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) has been officially launched at Al Bidda Park with exuberant live cooking demo, ample with classical circus elements like the tall man, jugglers, unicycle, and fire performance, and the staggering five-minute fireworks display at the Corniche.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive and Chairman of Qatar Tourism H E Akbar Al Baker inaugurated the 11th edition of QIFF. Al Baker said that the festival is a celebration of cultural diversity and plays a key role in intensifying food and beverage industry spotlighting Qatar’s scenic venues and introducing culinary artists from around the world.

“We have 16 globally-acclaimed celebrity chefs, including eight from world-class chefs joining us. Courtesy of Qatar Airways, these culinary maestros have been brought together to demonstrate popular cuisine from all over the world.”

During the closure period of Corniche, two events will be held including, the 5-minute fireworks during the weekend at 8pm and the food festival, which will start at 3pm until December 4. 

Meanwhile a traffic plan has been developed, including a security deployment on all lines and intersections to avoid any disruption of the roads, especially at the yellow box, and ensure the safety and security of the public and road users.
