The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) has announced the official Bid Committee for the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games, marking a milestone as the country aims to become the first Arab nation to host the global multi-sport extravaganza.

The Bid Committee, led by QOC President HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, alongside Qatar Foundation Vice Chairperson and the Vice Chairperson of the Bid Comittee, H E Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, is tasked with making Qatar’s intentions clear - to host an exceptional Olympiad in nine years’ time.

The Bid is not merely a declaration of Qatar’s intent to host another successful event, but a statement of unified vision - one that reinforces the country’s status as the sporting capital of the world.

Doha holds an exceptional record of hosting world-class events - including the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the 2024 World Aquatics Championships, the 2019 World Athletics Championships, and the 2006 Asian Games - and already boasts having 95% of the required Olympic infrastructure in place.

There is no better person than HE Sheikh Joaan to present Qatar’s capability to manage the challenges of such a mega project on the world stage.

Under his wise leadership, Qatar has meticulously and successfully established itself as a world-class hub for international sport.

During his tenure, the nation has been equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, and most importantly, embedded sport into the culture of Qatar.

His influential roles within the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) and the Olympic Council of Asia demonstrate a deep commitment to the Olympic Movement’s core values.

HE Sheikha Hind, the Vice Chairperson of the Bid committee, brings her leadership experience at Qatar Foundation to this project.

She has played a pivotal role in ensuring that the pursuit of sporting excellence is inclusive and accessible to all, with a vital focus on empowering women and girls.

Qatar’s bid is not a standalone proposal but the culmination of decades of strategic investment in infrastructure, human capital, and social progress.

With all these factors coming together, the Bid Committee is all out to ensure that a potential 2036 Games in Doha would be a game changer for both Qatar and the region.
