Roadmap for future

The comprehensive speeches of the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, usually outline internal and external situations, policies and achievements made at all levels of the national development process, therefore it is a guide and roadmap for the State’s policies in short- and long-term future plans. 

In his speech yesterday, during his inauguration of the second ordinary session of the first legislative term, corresponding to the Shura Council’s 51st annual session, His Highness the Amir addressed many important issues at both national and international levels.  He spoke about achievements made at the economic level and infrastructure projects, including projects of clean energy and liquefied gas, in addition to enhancing the role of the private sector by establishing partnerships between the public and private sectors in developmental projects and the developing of legal legislation in line with the requirements of the Qatar Vision 2030.

H H assured that the government agencies, bodies, institutions, and public companies are being reorganized to increase their efficiency and compatibility with the requirements of this age, as well as to expand the use of electronic systems to ensure the efficiency of government performance, implement the development plans expeditiously and timely, and facilitate citizen-oriented amenities and services. He also pointed out that the State is also working on amending the legislation regulating foreign investment to remove the obstacles facing that investment. 

On foreign policy and international cooperation the Amir affirmed the correctness of the policy followed by the State of Qatar, which is based on complying with international law, protecting national achievements and adopting preventive diplomacy in defusing crises before they escalate. The Amir pointed out that the positive results of this policy made it incumbent on Qatar to have an active and responsible role in the region, and the world at large.

Since the country has completed all preparations to host the World Cup and is ready for the kickoff of the tournament on November 20, the Amir highlighted the importance of the tournament for the State of Qatar and the region describing the event as an “occasion in which we portray who we are”, not only in terms of the strength of our economy and institutions but also in terms of our civilizational identity.”

The Amir drew attention to the unjust and unprecedented campaigns that Qatar has been subjected to since it won the honour of hosting the World Cup, Qatar has been subjected to campaigns that no host country has ever faced. But in the end, Qatar achieved its goal by accepting the challenge and integrating the hosting process into its national projects and development plans.
