The fourth edition of the Education Conference - held under the theme “Education That Makes a Difference” - concluded yesterday at the Qatar National Conventions Center. The two-day biannual conference is a platform for exchanging expertise and ideas on the best regional and international practices in the field of Education.

Hosting this conference in such a grand scale shows the seriousness Qatar places on education. The state has been a trailblazer in the field and is always on the quest of bringing the latest practices to the classrooms.

This keenness to excel shows how much importance the authorities under the wise leadership of the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani gives to education in Qatar.

To create a knowledge-based economy, a country needs strong pillars of support. The educational institutions should have a holistic approach to learning and capacity to address future challenges. They need to groom future leaders and equip them with skill-set required for the times to come. This is where an active body like the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of Qatar plays a key role of setting the agenda for the future generation.

The Education Conference 2019 discussed such varied topics like institutional educational thinking, linking vocational and technical Education with the needs of the labor market in Qatar, teaching robotics in the activities and strategies for the development of educational institutions among many others.

In this era when changes, especially in technology and science, are happening at lightning speed, educators must be one step ahead and this is possible only when there is state-of-the-art infrastructure and periodic training to keep up to date.

Qatar is way ahead of other states in the region in these parameters as the institutions set-up in the country have access to the best tools necessary and a very competent faculty.

The two-day conference focused on three axes: local and international trends in developing the educational process, the consolidation of education and cultural identity and quality management in education.

The conference was attended by over 25 countries and had about 150 interactive sessions, workshops and seminars show the importance Qatar provides on education and the opportunities it opens for the future generation and by virtue of it also the country.

Qatar is not only on the forefront of providing top-level education inside the country but through Education Above All Foundation it has been striving to educate the children who are currently out of school. Last September it had managed to fulfill its goal of ‘Reaching 10 Million Out of School Children’ and providing them quality education.
