Qatar has taken many initiatives and running many programs to support international efforts against the challenges of climate change. In the country, many new laws have been enacted in recent years and many institutions were developed to tackle the problem and create awareness among public to adopt eco-friendly practices. Almost all government ministries and other entities are fast adopting sustainable practices to save energy, cut carbon emissions etc to promote and support the global cause.

Under the strategy, Qatar seeks to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Qatar is also enhancing efforts to conserve, restore, and protect biodiversity for healthy and resilient natural ecosystems.  Qatar will conserve and effectively manage more than 25% of its total land area by 2030 and put in place restoration and protection plans for key species amongst other targets. Qatar is also ensuring sustainable and integrated management of all water resources.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change launched a slogan to mark Qatar Environment Day 2022 today. The slogan ‘Our Environment Our Responsibility’ reflects the rich biodiversity of Qatar eco-system including life in sky and sea, wild and desert life, land and natural resources.

“Qatar is determined to achieve its environmental sustainable development goals giving priorities to those set up by Qatar National Environment and Climate Change Strategy (QNE),” said Minister of Environment and Climate Change H E Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani yesterday.
