Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani wrapped up a visit to the Arab region with spending the last leg of the three-nation tour in the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.
H H the Amir’s visit assumes greater significance this time as the region is passing through a struggling and precarious situation as several countries in the Arab region are suffering from domestic turmoils, international isolation and regional squabbles, such as in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen to name a few.
As such, H H the Amir’s tour to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Tunisian Republic and the Republic of Algeria focused more on urgent and pressing international and regional issues as well as bilateral relations between Qatar and the three brotherly countries. The visit will result in establishing stronger partnerships, broadening prospects of cooperation and launching joint projects for the benefits of the brotherly peoples.
H H the Amir’s tour will add impetus to the unified stance and efforts towards challenges the Arab countries are facing. The Palestinian issue, the hapless struggle of the defenceless people for their own piece of land plundered by the Zionists, is at the core of the Arab aspirations. Qatar has been at the forefront in the fight for freedom and dignity for the Palestinians. The country has been the most vociferous advocate of the cause in every regional and international fora and has extended its helping hand whether it is in financial, material or humanitarian aspects. It is no wonder that the Palestinian cause was a central theme of H H the Amir’s talks with leaders of the three countries covered by the visit. Cooperation in the fields of economy, investment, sport, culture, industry, military etc also featured in the talks with the leaders.
Qatar has significant investments in Jordan, Tunisia and Algeria and the country’s relations with these brotherly states are bolstered with the signing of several agreements, memoranda of understanding and setting up joint groups of cooperation in various fields. Qatar is very keen on strengthening the joint Arab cause and at the same time enhancing relations with every country in the world. The country’s diplomacy has proven its significance time and again and has drawn widespread acknowledgement from across the world. Exchanging high-level visits will definitely help countries in playing their roles in finding solutions to conflicts, bringing peace and prosperity and most importantly developing the much needed harmony in the global stage.
