Qatar’s unwavering stance

In recent months, the Israeli occupation army has been involved in numerous atrocities and war crimes in Gaza. Despite these actions, the leaders of the Zionist entity consistently portray themselves as victims and sometimes assert that they are fighting for the free world. On other occasions, they accuse countries that seek to halt the bloodshed and release prisoners and hostages of being biased. Israel directs similar criticisms at the United Nations and international humanitarian organisations simply because they do not publicly support its war crimes, without addressing the substance of the criticism.

These attempts to present themselves as victims and deflect attention from their failures are aimed at concealing the significant shortcomings of the Zionist entity, which has failed to achieve any of its declared goals. The extremist forces in Israel, with explicit support from Western countries, pursue hidden objectives of expelling the Palestinians from their homeland, while evading accountability for all the crimes they have committed in Gaza.

Qatar, in collaboration with Egypt, has been actively engaged in negotiations to broker a truce in Gaza and facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged enclave of the Gaza Strip. In November, Qatar played a crucial role in securing a weeklong pause in the fighting, resulting in the release of over 100 hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails without trials.

Ongoing efforts by Qatar aim to secure a new agreement to end the war on Gaza, where more than 25,000 Palestinians, predominantly children and women (over 70 percent), have lost their lives. Simultaneously, the focus is on securing the release of approximately 133 Israeli hostages still held by Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups including Hamas.

Many observers believe that Israel’s fundamental problem lies in its extremism, ideology, and political agendas based on a distorted self-image that demands unwavering support for crimes it has been committing for over seventy years. There is no room for positive neutrality in dealing with extremism. Qatar, through its mediations and peace efforts, does not seek gratitude from any party but emphasises its unwavering stance on the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state, based on the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital. The intransigence of Israel’s far-right leaders, driven by extremism, want their demands and desires to be fulfilled at any cost.

In conclusion, Qatar’s mediation initiatives, both in the Middle East and globally, underscore its dedication to fostering peace and protecting innocent lives, not to please any entity. The nation’s commitment to the Palestinian cause remains resolute and it is not negotiable under any circumstances and will keep advocating for the right of Palestinians to achieve self-determination and an independent state.
