Qatarand Singapore relations is pivotal and important.
The two countries enjoy excellent ties, anchored by strong friendship between the leaders and peoples of the two states.
This is evident in the exchange of visits between high-ranking officials of the two countries and the agreements that regulate the relationship, cooperation and coordination at all levels to serve the interests of the Qatari and Singaporean peoples.
Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani recently hosted the President of Singapore, H E Halimah Yacob, during a State Visit to Qatar in June, where she held meetings with several Qatari officials and the Singaporean community in Qatar.
The visit was described as excellent support for closer relations between the two countries. There is no doubt that Singapore is an essential player in Asia, and Qatar is keen to enhance cooperation with partners in the continent. Asian countries are among the most important partners in energy and investment, and regional and international security and peace challenges are common challenges that can only be worked on collectively.
In recent years, Qatar has seen relations with other Asian countries grow, with many agreements signed reflecting Qatar’s interest in maintaining a stable and mutually beneficial partnership with Asian countries.
The current official visit of the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and the accompanying delegation to participate in the 8th Meeting of the Qatar-Singapore High-Level Joint Committee is another feather to the cap in Qatar’s diplomatic strategy.
During his meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, Sheikh Mohammed said Qatar and Singapore possess several elements to consolidate relations between the two countries and raise them to broader horizons, pointing to the importance of benefiting from the exchange of experiences in different areas of cooperation.
The 8th session of the joint supreme committee between Qatar and Singapore will discuss bilateral relations and ways of developing and enhancing them in various fields.
The meeting focused on growing trade, investment, education, social development, culture and tourism, besides the most important regional and international stories of common interest. Aspects of the stra-tegic cooperation between the two countries and ways of enhancing and promoting them in various fields were also discussed.
Notably, Qatar and Singapore share many common interests and work together to enhance the rules-based international order that respects sovereignty and realizes the importance of regional and global stability and peace to achieve development and prosperity for the region.
