Boosting ties with Africa

The visit of the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the Republic of Rwanda and the Federal Republic of Nigeria will pave way for the new beginning in the relations between the countries. The visit will further bolster the bilateral relations of Qatar with these countries as high level talks will be held during the visits.

The tour is  taking place within the framework of the extensive Qatari diplomatic activity in various countries and continents, which is a clear indicator of the increasing official and popular Qatari interest in the African countries to build solid relations and strategic partnerships with them in various fields.

The tour shows the great importance that the State of Qatar attaches to its relations with African countries and its keenness to support and develop them in all sectors. It comes under a wide and distinguished Qatari activity on the continent to serve the common causes, interests and aspiration of both sides.

The State of Qatar has established strong and distinct relations with the Republic of Rwanda. These ties have been strengthened in recent years by many visits of senior officials of the two countries, and their foreign meetings in the framework of their participation in international conferences and events, and the sessions of the General Assembly of the United Nations to promote bilateral relations and coordination on various issues of common interest.

In spite of the fact that, the relation between the two countries has been established recently, they are ambitious and promising ties showing the determination of the two sides to strengthen and develop them through constant consultation and continuous coordination between the leaderships of the two states to serve bilateral the interests and the interests of two friendly peoples.

In this context, during last November, the President of the Republic of Rwanda  Paul Kagame had an official visit to the country, and H H the Amir Paul Kagame held an official meeting at the Amiri Diwan during which they discussed aspects of cooperation between the two countries on political, economic, investment, agricultural and mineral sectors, to serve the common interest and realize the aspirations of both countries and peoples.

Last November, Hassad Food Company signed a MoU with the government of Rwanda, which aims to open opportunities for cooperation between the two sides and examine investment opportunities in the field of agriculture and food. The ties between Qatar and African countries are set to strengthen in future.
