Where entrepreneurship thrives

The recent launch of a new single-window facility with services that will simplify the company registration procedures is commendable as it is one more step in the right direction to becoming a business-and entrepreneurship-friendly country.

For any country to grow and sustain itself, it must have a strong and thriving private sector, which not only contributes to economic growth but also generates employment. For this to happen, more and more youngsters need to think about starting their own ventures. All over the world, the common issue new entrepreneurs face in setting up a new business is the cumbersome paperwork and the red tape they have to overcome. This is where Qatar is setting an example by making the whole process very simple and facilitating the setting up of new ventures easy and straightforward.

The new set of services launched recently will allow investors to directly benefit from digitised services and enable them to complete transactions without the need to visit the websites or headquarters of relevant ministries. The new services reduce the requirements and automate the internal procedures and reviews by governmental entities. The single-window service brings together various stakeholders under one platform and helps streamline the entire process thus eliminating waiting time and unnecessary visits to various offices.

In proof of its improving business environment, competing with highly developed economies, Qatar’s rank rose from 18th place to 12th place in the World Competitiveness Yearbook 2023 - which is published annually by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland. In fact, as per the report, Qatar ranked very highly in economic performance and government efficiency.

For any business to succeed and grow it requires well qualified and professional workforce. To augment this requirement, platforms like Jusour will be of great help. It will connect the employer with the job seeker. The current programmes it runs help students find part-time jobs and help extend visas after their studies while searching for jobs. These two programmes will be very helpful for students to find suitable employment in their area of expertise and will also benefit firms in recruiting professionals who are coming out of the top universities in Qatar. These platforms could later be extended to include professionals who are made redundant to find another suitable employer.

Jusour is set up to develop the labour market in Qatar by attracting an active and committed workforce that will contribute to economic development efforts in priority sectors. All these steps will eventually create an ecosystem where innovations and entrepreneurship will thrive.
