Education is an essential tool for everyone to enhance knowledge and achieve success in life.  And like all other institutions in the state, Qatar University too is marching on the road to glory with several achievements.

The varsity added yet another feather to its cap when it was ranked 3rd among the best universities in the Arab world and 52nd out of the top 350 institutions from 25 countries in Asia in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2018.

QU President Dr Hassan Al Derham, commenting on the achievement, said: “We are proud of QU being ranked 52nd in THE Asia University Rankings 2018. This achievement highlights the university’s continuous advancement in its regional standing as it achieved 77th place in 2017. As Qatar’s first higher education institution, QU has rigorously pursued educational excellence and the highest quality research. The university is committed to deliver the best possible education to its students and to inspire them to achieve their potential. Through its world-class graduate and postgraduate programmes, QU has earned good reputation as one of the most prestigious universities in the region.”

Qatar University is committed to transforming higher education in Qatar by proactively playing a leading role in shaping and enabling the transformation of the nation’s higher education system. In December last year, Qatar University detailed its new strategy (2018-2022), through which the varsity seeks to achieve a comprehensive transformation that serves the national goals and which focuses on the importance of providing academic and research programmes that align with international standards and with the principles of the Arabic and Islamic culture and identity.

Keeping its trail of achievements, Qatar University also achieved seventh place in the QS Arab Region University Rankings 2018, among the 100 top universities in the Middle East, Asia and MENA regions. For the 2018 edition, 150 universities from 16 countries were evaluated for QS Arab Region University Rankings. Qatar University was also ranked among the top 500 universities in the world in THE World University Rankings 2018. In July 2017, QU was ranked #37 in the “QS Top 50 Under 50” 2018 ranking among the world’s leading young universities founded less than 50 years ago. QU was placed at number 37 among the top young universities in the world, and the first in the Arab world and the Middle East region.

Qatar University has come a long way to achieve these successes. The university is continuing its efforts to meet the requirements of the country’s fast-growing economy by offering various specialisations and academic programs, and by equipping the labour market with distinguished graduates who would contribute to fulfilling the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
