FOR expatriates, Qatar is one among the best countries in the world to live and a place where they get the same comfort and care as they enjoy in their home countries. This is not an overstatement but based on facts and truly experienced by expatriates living and working in Qatar.
In various instances and predicaments, the great nation has treated its expatriate population with quality care and comfort. Even during the current COVID-19 pandemic, which wreaks havoc across the world, the expatriates in Qatar are safe as the Qatari administration is on war footing to take measures for the safety of migrant workers.
The Ministry of Interior said that round-the-clock operations are being made in the Industrial Area to make sure that the needs of food, medical supplies and others of the workers are met properly. “The workers are our brothers and we seek to protect them with everything we have especially during this crisis. All medical conditions were taken into consideration particularly for the people who have diabetes or stress diseases and others as their health condition is monitored by healthcare professionals around-the-clock and the authorities are responding to their requirements,” said Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Mohammad Al Ghanim, Security Commander responsible for Industrial Area.
These words alone are enough to understand the kind of care Qatar provides to its people. The Ministry of Public Health has already set up an outpatient clinic in Industrial Area, where testing and examinations are done and all the needed medical care is given for free by the Hamad Medical Corporation.
Educational leaflets have been distributed in more than nine languages to make workers aware of the safety measures. By disinfecting public places, authorities have prevented further spread of the virus. A hospital with a capacity of about 200 beds is under construction, and two other hospitals will be built in future in the area. Various charity organisations, including Qatar Charity, is feeding workers by providing food baskets, each basket is enough to feed a person for 14 days.
To facilitate the process of money transfer, a number of exchanges are opened in the area to provide uninterrupted services to workers. Pharmacies and supermarkets are also open in the area. Strict instructions were given to organisations on the measures to be taken for the safety of workers and also directed not to reduce the allowances provided to them during this crisis.
