A show of pride in homeland

People of Qatar have traditionally celebrated Qatar National Day with a show of immense pride in their country and its leadership.

The occasion servers as an opportunity to celebrate the country’s remarkable progress over the decades, and to reaffirm resolve to work together for its continued progress and prosperity under the leadership of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The country’s phenomenal rise in global sports, energy supplies, and peace diplomacy coupled with rapid economic progress have indeed earned it a special place in the world. The leadership’s vision and people’s unity have played a key role in building a cohesive and prosperous modern state.

H H the Amir has also congratulated the citizens and residents of Qatar on the occasion of Qatar National Day, celebrated annually on December 18. “I pray to Allah to bless us with the return of this occasion every year, bringing with it goodness and joy, and to continue bestowing peace, happiness and prosperity upon Qatar and its people. Wishing a Happy National Day to all of us,” the Amir wrote in a post on X yesterday. Heads of states and governments from a number of friendly nations have also congratulated Qatar and its leadership on the occasion of National Day.

Festive celebrations were held across Qatar to mark the day yesterday. The main venue of National Day events, Dar Al Saai in Umm Salal, held events for all members of the community especially children and families to celebrate the occasion.

The celebrations at Darb Al Saai will continue throughout the extended weekend until Saturday. Other venues which attracted huge crowds yesterday included Cultural Village Foundation – Katara, Old Doha Port, Doha Corniche, Mseireb Downtown Doha, and Souq Waqif. Special events were also arranged at Asian Town near Doha Industrial Area. A large number of tourists and visitors have also participated in the celebrations. 

Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani has said that Qatar National Day is a noble and inspiring national occasion that embodies the spirit of unity, cohesion and belonging among citizens, and affirms their pride in the legacy of the Founder, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, who laid the foundations of a strong and unified state, making Qatar a model of steadfastness and independence.

He said the day is an opportunity to emphasise the ongoing march of exceptional achievements across various fields under the wise leadership of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
