Offering our time, efforts and skills without expecting any financial rewards except complacency and the noble spirit of willing to help people at the time of need is one of the initiatives that requires a high level of social awareness.
When the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) called in March for volunteers to join the National Volunteering Campaign “For Qatar” and help fight the coronavirus (COVID-19), nearly 17,000 people responded on the second day of the announcement and got registered.
This swift response showed the level of awareness and readiness for solidarity and helping people prevailing among the citizens and residents of the State of Qatar.
It is crucial to be aware of the fact that not only less fortunate people need always assistance but governments also sometimes need support to fill gaps under critical, unexpected and fast spreading pandemics like the one the entire world experiencing these days.
Volunteering works not only benefit people we serve but also have valuable benefits for the volunteers themselves, such as connecting them with others, giving mind and body reliefs, help in obtaining new skills, advance in career and complacency with the fulfillment of task making a difference in someone’s life.  The volunteering campaign “For Qatar” is to contribute to the efforts being carried out by the government to curb the spread of the COVID-19 in alignment with the standards set up by the MoPH and other authorities concerned.
The responsibilities given to the volunteers of the campaign “For Qatar” are based at medical facilities across the country to support medical staffs, raising public health awareness, logistics and more.
This volunteering campaign also comes in line with the state’s plan to engage all institutions, organisations and individuals to curb the spread of COVID-19, as confirmed cases have increased these days creating more strain on resources.
“For Qatar” campaign showed the importance of unity, engagement, and true community spirit and readiness to give back the community without expecting any returns. Thus volunteers are offering their time and skills to contribute to the health and wellbeing of Qatar’s population and backing hardworking healthcare professionals.
This is the right time for the people to stand together with selflessness, social awareness, and dedication to help others and response to the call of the health and other concerned bodies to adhering to the preventive measures.
Under the unprecedented challenge of COVID-19, we express our appreciation to all the volunteers supporting medics and working day and night to save the lives of the infected people.
