The whole country is celebrating National Day today with traditional zeal. It is not only a proud moment for the country, its leadership and its people but also a day for citizens to revive their sincere commitment to values of loyalty, unity and solidarity.

Qatar achieved a lot in the last one year at global level on fronts of diplomacy and developed new international partnerships with world community. The country also realised many development projects in its march towards progress. This day people will revive their loyalty to the country and will refresh their resolve to serve the country with more dedication and hard work.

On the eve of Qatar National Day, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani stressed that celebrating the State of Qatar’s National Day this year comes at a time when the country is developing further, thanks to the achievements of its people under the leadership of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The Prime Minister and Minister of Interior also called on people and authorities, whether citizens or residents, to give their all to gift the world an unforgettable sporting event – Qatar 2022 –   that would be engraved in the memory of all people.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs H E Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah has underscored that December 18 represents an important turning point in the country’s history, as Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani announced the founding of the State of Qatar on December 18, 1878, and since that date, the Qatari people have proven their cohesion, unity, and solidarity despite all the circumstances and difficulties.

The activities of the National Day 2021 are being held under the slogan ‘Ancestral Meadows: A Matter of Trust’ which is based on the poetry of the Founder of Qatar, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani.

The Qatar National Day Parade at Corniche will start at 9am and entry for public is by invitation. There will also be fireworks on the Doha Corniche in the evening and its timing will coincide with the end of the Arab Cup final.

Regarding the slogan, it shows that from time immemorial, Qataris have always maintained a close-knit relationship with their environment. It also indicates Qatar’s sincerity to global efforts to defeat the challenges posed by climate change and the country’s strong commitment to environment preservation for future generations.
