With just over two months left to the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the Qatar Football Association (QFA) made a timely announcement to launch an extensive promotional campaign to back the national team ahead of their debut appearance in the football showpiece. The campaign, led by the QFA, is aimed to support and motivate the national stars before they play against big teams of the world.

The campaign will be held in cooperation with Qatar Shell, Msheireb Properties and Al-Nahdi Group, and QFA will engage Team Qatar fans by holding various events in Msheireb and Lusail City besides staging multiple programmes in various schools. The QFA has also announced to hold a training session of the national team which will be open for fans. A campaign will also be launched on the social media platforms under the slogans “For the love of Qatar” and “Make us stronger with your cheering”.

The activities also include the car decoration initiative, which will be organised at Lusail in cooperation with Al-Nahdi Group in November, offering discount coupons to decorate cars. Fans who install stickers containing pictures of the national team players and the flag of the State of Qatar, on their cars, will receive gift coupons.

QFA has also invited Qatari fans to decorate their homes and support the “Zeina” initiative launched by Ashghal. During the activities, gifts will also be distributed to fans in different places in the country next month, with locations to be announced later.

All these activities will give Al Annabi players a great motivation before they launch their campaign at the FIFA World Cup. The team is currently busy with a training camp overseas. Qatar – under coach Felix Sanchez – travelled to Spain earlier this summer before the camp was moved to Austria.

The Asian champions also participated in a four-nation friendly tournament in Austria last month, also featuring Jamaica, Ghana and Morocco. The team remained unbeaten in the event clinching a win besides playing two draws. Qatar are also scheduled to play friendlies against the sides from Croatia, Canada and Chile later this month as part of their World Cup preparations.

Qatar are in Group A of the World Cup that also includes Ecuador, Senegal and the Netherlands. The national team will meet Ecuador in the tournament’s opening game on November 20 at the Al Bayt Stadium. The team intends to display a strong show in their maiden World Cup appearance and they have the potential to pull off stunning results, not to forget their 2019 Asian Cup title triumph in the UAE.
