Gaza tragedy: World’s hypocrisy

The Israeli occupation forces appear relentlessly bloodthirsty as they persist in their massacres of innocent Palestinians, engaging in invasions and bombardments of hospitals and mosques, churches, schools, bakeries and water facilities and all these are taking place with complicity of the so called international community. These places, believed to be protected under international laws, norms, and war ethics, have become scenes of devastation where hundreds of patients and displaced individuals sought refuge. Regrettably, Israel’s actions reflect a disturbing level of hysteria and sadism, seemingly insatiable in their pursuit of brutality against children, women, and the elderly.

Since October 7, the death toll has reached a staggering 11,500, including 4,710 children and 3,160 women, with over 29,800 injured, out of them are children making up 70 percent of the total.

Recent headlines have been dominated by the destruction of hospitals, bakeries, and water facilities, painting a grim picture of the unfolding tragedy in the region. Currently, over 5,000 people, including patients and displaced individuals seeking refuge in Al Shifa Hospital, are being held hostage—a reprehensible act with no justification other than a desire to kill and humiliate the residents, compelling them to abandon their homeland. But the reality affirms this is impossible and an unattainable goal.

The events unfolding in Gaza over the past 40 days have laid bare the hypocrisy of the international community, often quick to pay lip service to ideals such as freedoms, human rights, and international laws. United Nations organisations, once vocal proponents of justice, lose their relevance when the perpetrator is Israel, with their responses reduced to stammers and tongue-tied silence. Even the religious institutions that were in such situations calling and praying for peace no longer had a voice and everyone seemed to be complicit against the people of Gaza.

The world’s hypocrisy is laid bare, a hollow facade devoid of substance, particularly evident in the face of the unforgivable crime being committed against the children of Gaza.

The international community, especially Western countries supporting Israel with weapons, financing, and diplomatic cover, must bear the weight of responsibility for the ongoing tragedy and genocide. The Holocaust of Gaza’s children stands as an indelible mark of shame on the forehead of a world that has lost meaning in its commitment to law and humanity. In this world of lies and hypocrisy, only the Palestinian people, steadfast in their defence of rights and attachment to their land, remain unbound by the prevailing deceit.

Israel’s war on the people of Gaza did not achieve any of its declared goals, but it is moving forward in achieving its hidden goals, which is genocide and getting rid of Palestinians at any cost.
