Healthcare workers in Qatar have worked relentlessly on the frontline throughout this pandemic. Hundreds of staff have worked tirelessly to deliver care of world-class standards to thousands of COVID-19 patients during the past months.

H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), inaugurating the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) 2020 under the banner of “One World, Our Health”, praised the healthcare workers and researchers who emerged as heroes and said: “I salute healthcare workers in Qatar, and globally, for their tremendous efforts in fighting this pandemic, protecting lives, and tirelessly striving to create a better, healthier world. Our youth should exemplify and emulate them in their altruism, dedication and involvement in the health and research sectors.”

The efficiency of the country’s healthcare system has been proved by the smooth transition from the peak to the flattening of the COVID-19 curve. In this lieu, a photographic exhibition celebrating Qatar’s healthcare workforce and their efforts during the current pandemic opened in the courtyard of Doha’s Fire Station arts complex.

The “Healthcare Heroes” exhibition, launched to coincide with the biennial WISH, features individuals who between them represent the many different faces of healthcare in Qatar. The open-air WISH gallery was developed with the support of The Fire Station, Hamad Medical Corporation, the Primary Health Care Corporation, and the Ministry of Public Health.

Minister of Public Health H E Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari said: “This year, more than ever before, the role of healthcare professionals has been valued here in Qatar and around the world. Throughout Qatar’s comprehensive strategy to confront COVID-19 our healthcare teams in the health sector have been at the forefront of the country’s response.

“They have worked round-the-clock, under enormous pressure, to ensure we deliver the best healthcare services, not only to patients affected by COVID-19, but also to the many thousands of non-COVID-19 patients who still relied on our essential services. I feel incredibly honoured to be part of such a skilled and dedicated workforce of healthcare heroes.”

The fight against COVID-19 and the low mortality rate has proved that Qatar’s healthcare system has the efficiency to respond to a pandemic. Over the years, Qatar has made significant investments in healthcare infrastructure, as well as promoting a comprehensive approach for the wellbeing of all. The healthcare sector is firmly committed to providing the highest levels of medical care for everyone.
