Seamless travel

With every passing day, Qatar’s public transport system is witnessing new developments making it the most advanced system in the world. From Doha Metro to Karwa taxis, all modes of public transport have been developed keeping in mind commuters’ growing needs and comfort as well as sustainability objectives.

To enhance integration of multimodal transport system of the country, Sila Operation Center was inaugurated on Thursday. Minister of Transport H E Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti inaugurated ‘Sila Operation Center’, which will represent the nucleus of Qatar’s Public Transport Integrated Services.

Qatar’s transport sector has reached major achievements in recent years, with the individual public transport operators accomplishing a series of exceptional milestones. The Ministry of Transport introduced Sila in 2021 with its mission to connect public transport modes through the brand Sila, providing seamless mobility for citizens, residents and visitors. The Ministry of Transport in collaboration with the State of Qatar’s public transport providers is committed to providing Qatar with world-class mobility through Sila, the brand that brings together the State of Qatar’s public transport modes into an integrated network.

Sila is the brand that brings together the State of Qatar’s public transport modes into an integrated network. Currently it includes the metro, bus, tram and taxi. Sila presents various modes of public transport under an integrated network to get commuters to their destination seamlessly; provides integrated and contactless payment options, including the Sila Card or bank cards to facilitate commuters travel journey without any interruptions; gives commuters freedom to plan your seamless journey according to your own preferences.

On Sila Operation Center, Minister Al Sulaiti said, “We launched Sila with the mission to bring together the State of Qatar’s public transport modes into an integrated network, offering people the smartest choices for travel and supporting the country’s ongoing development.”

Director of the Technical Affairs Department at the Ministry of Transport, Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Thani, said, “Sila is the result of an ambitious vision to connect individual public transport modes and create a sustainable future, ultimately benefiting citizens, residents, and tourists alike. It is being launched in phases and will include several initiatives such as integrated payment options, introducing new services and transport modes and promoting the public transport network.”  The Center includes Sila Brand Management and Wayfinding, Unified Electronic Ticketing Hub and related payment systems, Central Clearing House and Test Authority. The Center will also compliment the work of the National Transport Coordination Center and the Land Transport Safety Committee.
