The State of Qatar has invested heavily in its health infrastructure, improving its medical capabilities and services to ensure the best possible medical care for the community. It has placed the country in a leading position. Qatar has become one of the world’s highest levels of population satisfaction.

The country is cultivating the culture of research across diverse medical specializations, which has consistently positioned it in the roster of the world’s health giants -- boasting a futuristic approach in medical services, facilities and technology.

Qatar’s health system has been ranked several times in first place globally among the Arab countries and the Middle East in the Security Index and Health Care Index for 2022. It has also obtained a similar ranking in the Standard of Life Index for 2022. The system was ranked 5th best in the world and the first in the Middle East, being the only country in the region to score in the top five on the annual prosperity index. With improved life expectancy, better health outcomes, and investment in health infrastructure, this development has been felt on the ground.

As one of the highest spenders in healthcare in the Middle East, Qatar has enabled its population to enjoy the highest life expectancy rate in the Eastern Mediterranean Region and globally ranks in the top 25 percentile for healthcare access and quality.

Qatar’s commitment to excellence has driven the rankings from 13th place last year to 5th. Over the past years, Qatar opened several new public hospitals with thousands of beds and advanced medical technology focusing on non-traditional medication areas to treat cancer, diabetes, and smoking cessation.

These measures have positively impacted people’s lives and consequently increased their life expectancy.

Within the framework of the continuous achievements made by the health sector, the Ministry of Public Health announced recently that five Qatar hospitals had been ranked among the world’s top 250 academic medical centres, according to a new study undertaken by Brand Finance, a United Kingdom-based world-leading brand valuation consultancy.

The hospitals ranked among the top 250 list included Rumailah Hospital, Hamad General Hospital, the National Center for Cancer Care and Research, the Heart Hospital, and Sidra Medicine.

According to the MoPH, with the ranking of these five hospitals, Qatar has the highest number of hospitals out of all the GCC, which is an incredible achievement for the Qatari health sector. It reflects the level of attention the country gives to healthcare services and its commitment to delivering excellent care to patients.
