A new school year

Education is an essential tool for everyone to enhance knowledge and achieve success in life. Qatar has established an education system that complies with the highest standards of international educational systems.

And school is an important element of the country’s economy. Qatar’s education sector is growing and this was evident when the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, said that the academic year 2019/2020 will witness the opening of five new schools for primary, preparatory and secondary levels. The five new schools are located in Al Wakrah, Muaither, Al Kheesa, Old Airport (Al Matar Al Qadeem) and Al Manaseer.

As part of its preparations for the new academic year, the Ministry is launching its sixth edition of the campaign “With Education We Build Qatar” from today until August 24. The campaign aims to prepare students for the new academic year and provide them with the necessary advice and guidance in this regard and to remind and emphasize the importance of moral and psychological readiness to start the academic year and sharpen the motivation for regular school attendance.

The Ministry’s preparations and arrangements for the starting of the new academic year reflects the commitment of the country’s leadership to education, as it is an important factor in realising Qatar National Vision 2030 goals.  Dr. Al Nuaimi noted that the preparations for the new academic year have been carried out in cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the General Directorate of

Traffic at the Ministry of Interior, to ensure the safety of students and the school environment throughout the school year, in addition to the role of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) in terms of opening and maintenance of streets, bridges, tunnels and intersections, to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.

Qatar attaches great importance to the educational system by preparing students to contribute effectively to the knowledge-based economy. The Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s quest for a knowledge-based economy requires building quality educational institutions, building students’ minds, developing their innovations, adopting their ideas and polishing them to the highest levels of quality and production.  

Qatar is taking care of its talented youth and knows that they are valuable treasures and that their capabilities must be developed. Qatar has always been investing in education which promotes its human and knowledge capital. The State, through many initiatives, is also focusing on preserving national identity by promoting values of loyalty and belonging and planting them in the youth.

Qatar has become an academic hub due to its international reputation, social stability, richness and cultural diversity. Qatar is moving way ahead to build a modern state that encourages education for all.
