In solidarity with Palestine

Gaza is under attack from Israel yet again. The spiralling violence has raised fears of a new Palestinian “intifada”. Peace talks have not taken place in years. Diplomacy has so far failed to quell the worst escalation in fighting between Israel and Palestinians since 2014.

Israel yesterday destroyed a 12-storey tower block that housed the Associated Press and Al Jazeera media operations, as well as other offices and residential apartments, (a move faced worldwide strong condemnation including from Al Jazeera and AP). Al Jazeera called on all media and human right institutions to join forces in denouncing these ruthless bombing and to hold the government of Israel accountable for deliberately targeting journalists and media institutions.

At least 145 people, including 41 children, have been martyred in Gaza since the conflict erupted on Monday, while Palestinian rocket salvoes hit Tel Aviv with no sign of an end to almost a week of fighting.

Qatar strongly condemned the Israeli aggression and called on the international community to urgently interfere and stop it. After all this destruction and collective punishment what Israel is looking for? Israel has carried similar things many times undermining basic human rights, international laws and conventions, and the international community has done nothing, thanks to the cover, Israel getting from the super power.

Israel may not come to the conclusion that Palestinians will not leave their homeland whatever they face under Israeli apartheid system or will not tolerate with attacks on Al Aqsa Mosque which is an attack on more than billion Muslims.

Qatar considers the Palestinian issue its main cause, and stands firmly with Palestine and is acting responsibly to ensure Al Quds and Al Aqsa mosque return to the Arab and Islamic World, and establish an independent Palestinian state based on the borders of June 4 of 1967 with East Al Quds as its capital.

Qatar also stressed the importance of having a unified position from all members of the Arab League to move actively on the international arena to support the Palestinian people and end Israeli aggression.

Meanwhile thousands of people yesterday gathered in the square of Imam Muhammad bin Abdulwahhab Mosque in Doha to demonstrate solidarity with Palestinians against Israeli aggression. The solidarity stand which was called by International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) was attended by large number of Palestinian expatriate community members, prominent personalities from Qatar and Palestine, Qatari citizens and expatriates from different nationalities.

The demonstrators displayed placards with several inscriptions from ‘Free Palestine!’ to ‘Israel is the terrorist’ and ‘Defend Gaza’ and they chanted slogans in praise of Qatar and its continuous support to Palestine.
