Aimlessness of Israel’s war on Gaza

The Israeli war on Gaza is now into its sixty-sixth day, yet the ultimate outcome mirrors the pattern set by the Israeli war apparatus and the influx of misguided missile support from its Western allies. This ongoing conflict is poised to leave a lasting scar for years if not decades, and its evident and concealed ramifications are poised to instill fear throughout the region. Israel’s unwavering sense of megalomania, coupled with its influential sway in the decision-making echelons of major powers, renders it a menace to humanity at large, transcending the plight of the Palestinians.

The unchecked ascendancy of the extreme far-right within the Zionist state, coupled with its pervasive control over key institutions and the support networks in America and other major Western nations, has steered Israel toward a monstrous trajectory. This departure from the behaviour expected of a nation bound by borders, laws, and coexistence with other countries manifests in a war bereft of reason or human conscience.

Motivated by animosity and malice, Israel’s offensive on Gaza seeks to perpetrate genocide against the Palestinian population, fulfilling the vengeful desires of extremists nursing grudges against anything associated with Palestine, its territory, and its people. The daily toll of hundreds of lives lost, homes destroyed, streets and infrastructure razed, markets set ablaze, and sacred sites violated underscores the gravity of this war driven by hatred.

Regrettably, staunch supporters of Israel remain oblivious or indifferent to the destructive outcomes wrought by its actions, providing unwavering support and furnishing the means to inflict further harm on the Palestinian people. The recent intrusion of Israeli soldiers into a mosque in Jenin, where they ascended the pulpit and prayer hall to perform a ritual, and posting the prayers on social media, defies rational explanation and underscores the aimlessness of Israel’s war on Gaza and the wider region.

Even if Israel contends that its objectives are hostage recovery and self-defence, the reality on the ground contradicts these claims, as the nation finds itself mired in a sea of blood without tangible progress on either front. The true threat to Israel’s security and existence lies not in the Palestinians attaining their rightful state but, in the extremism, fostered by the Zionist movement over the past 75 years. The eventual reckoning for Israel will emerge from the very extremism it nurtured, rather than from the envisioned State of Palestine, despite the existence of Jewish extremism that denies the Palestinians their rightful place on their land.
