Qatar is fast becoming a favourite destination for tourists. And Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) is leaving no stone unturned in its mission to firmly establish the country on the global map as a place where cultural authenticity meets modernity and where people of the world come together to experience Qatar’s unique culture, diversity and festivals.
The ‘Summer in Qatar’ (SiQ) festival has provided a fillip to the country’s tourism sector and the economy with various entertainment events and summer activities coupled with enticing shopping and hospitality promotions.
The annual summer festival, which ends tomorrow, is aimed at supporting domestic tourism, revitalising the country’s economy and supporting the various tourism sector partners by stimulating retail sales and increasing occupancy rates in hotels and restaurant reservations.
QNTC Chief Marketing Officer, Rashed Al Qurese said: “We at QNTC are pleased to bring people together for the holiday, as we wind down our largest summer program. With the collaboration of over 30 public and private sector partners in hospitality, retail and entertainment, Summer in Qatar has demonstrated the commitment across sectors to further evolve our offerings and build a sustainable tourism sector.”
‘Summer in Qatar’ festival is characterised by a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. Thanks to the collaborative efforts by partners in public and private sectors, SiQ offers visitors all kinds of tourism experiences, including cultural tours and various forms of entertainment including a variety of new products and activities that suit all ages, interests and budgets and further develop Qatar as a year-round tourism destination.

The collaboration with partners across a range of entities are part of a wider strategy to diversify Qatar’s tourism offerings, and develop year round options for visitors and residents all cultures and ages.”
Qatar’s first-ever indoor snow themed park Snow Dunes opened its doors to the visitors at Doha Festival City Mall. Snow Dunes is the third indoor theme park operated by Trimoo Parks at DHFC after The Angry Birds World and Virtuocity. QNTC brought together more than 30 partners from the public and private sectors, including the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Ministry of Municipality & Environment, Qatar Museums, Qatar Airways, Katara Cultural Village, Qatar Foundation, Private Engineering Office, Katara Hospitality, Al Rayyan Hospitality, Marriott International hotels, nine participating malls, and other event partners including QSports, Social Studios, Alchemy and Radio ONE FM Qatar. ‘Summer in Qatar’ forms part of QNTC’s strategy to enrich and diversify the country’s tourism offering. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of partners, Qatar has become a popular year-round destination since the launch of the first summer program known as ‘Qatar Summer Festival’ in 2014. The ‘Summer in Qatar’ festival has proved that everything is possible with strong cooperation between the public and private sectors.
