With the outbreak of COVID-19 and the world engaged in fighting the virus, many countries turned to technology with hopes of controlling spread of pandemic and easing restrictions by being able to quickly identify people who might have been exposed to the infection.
The State of Qatar is among the first to introduce Ehteraz app, a real technological shield, to help contain the coronavirus. Since then Ehteraz has proved its efficacy in tracing people who might have contracted the virus. The government made app’s activation is mandatory for everyone as its use by all the population is a great help in slowing the spread of the virus.
People can contribute to fighting against the virus when the entire population is aware and convinced of the importance and effectiveness of the precautionary measures imposed by the competent authorities, and acknowledge that the Ehteraz app helps us learn how to protect ourselves and our community. They can receive real-time notifications and follow the latest news about COVID-19 from the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH). Above all, the app traces contacts and alerts individuals who are at risk of infection. Ehteraz application features trusted information generated by the health authority with regular updates and notifications as scientific findings progress.
Recently, the MoPH has introduced new updates to the app including Ehteraz map functionality for home quarantine and a display for vaccination status. However, this is not the first update rather it is part of several updates continuously taking place, but it does not change any policies or protocols forward by the government regarding COVID-19 pandemic rather these updates enhance protection and ease people to manage their daily lives.
A new Ehteraz update has been launched that will enable people to set the location of their ‘Home Quarantine’ using a map location function. All individuals who have been placed into Home Quarantine will have the ability to use the map/pin drop location functionality within the first 24 hours of their Ehteraz status turning to YELLOW. “Set Quarantine Location” will appear under the QR code on the health status page of the App when applicable.
This is to be used only in situations either where the Blue Plate address is not available, or in cases where the individual chooses to remain in quarantine in a location other than their primary residence. Additionally, the app also shows a “Vaccination” tab alongside the options for Health Status, Statistics, Hotline and Notifications.
People in Qatar have lot of awareness about the importance and benefits of the Ehteraz app which aims to protect and safeguard the health of citizens, residents, and visitors in the State of Qatar to support the national effort in preventing and reducing the spread of COVID-19.
