Qatar’s resolve against terror

The State of Qatar has been playing a leading role in war against terrorism and through providing multi-dimensional support to international coalition’s fight against terror, the country has demonstrated its unflinching resolution and sincerity to the cause.

The whole world recognizes Qatar’s efforts in this regard therefore all baseless allegations of ‘supporting terror’ leveled against Qatar by the blockading countries in June last year to distort image of Qatar among world nations totally failed in winning any support from international community.

The recently-held Qatar-US strategic dialogue was also an expression of complete trust by the United States on Qatar and its wise leadership. Continuing its efforts to eliminate the menace of terror, the State of Qatar has participated in the ministerial meeting of the International Coalition against ISIS, which was held yesterday in Kuwait with the participation of 74 members representing governments and international organizations in the coalition. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who headed the delegation of Qatar to the meeting, stressed that terrorism in its different forms has become the biggest threat to the Arab region and the whole world.

“The State of Qatar has always voiced its rejection and condemnation to this phenomenon and stressed the importance of eliminating all terrorist organizations wherever they exist,” the Foreign Minister said.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister went on saying that it is regrettable that some international positions were not based on an accurate and realistic understanding of the real reasons of the terrorism phenomenon, actual developments in the course of events and not finding final solutions to the actual reasons of terrorism.  His Excellency also said that Qatar has spared no effort in combating terrorism and extremism in all its forms and images, by taking all necessary measures locally, coordinating and contributing effectively to the efforts of the international coalition, through bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation, providing humanitarian assistance, and supporting educational, economic and other development initiatives to achieve global security and stability.

The fight against terror, particularly ISIS, is being hit hard by current Gulf crisis therefore it is also responsibility of the international community to use their influence on the blockading countries to end unjust siege of Qatar as these reckless power-politics ambitions of leaders of the blockading countries will serve nothing politically but can and are damaging the fight against ISIS in the region and other terror outfits at the globe level.

This is the realization which made US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson urge allies to “stay focused” on fighting the Islamic State group. Speaking at a ministerial meeting in Kuwait of the US-led military coalition against ISIS, Tillerson said: “The end of major combat operations does not mean we have achieved the enduring defeat of ISIS. ISIS remains a serious threat to the stability of the region, our homelands and other parts of the globe.”
