There is no longer a day without Israeli occupation forces killing innocent Palestinians or incursions into their homes and sanctities or destroying houses on top of children, women, and elders. Palestinians in the occupied territories begin their day with the sound of bullets fired by the Israeli forces or extremist settlers and the sound of planes and cannons as the Israeli occupation forces no longer give value to the life of the Palestinians as long as the State of Israel sponsors these hostilities and considers it one of its missions in the entire region.
The repressive actions practised by Israel leave no space for the Palestinians except to resist the occupation and struggle until the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. On a daily basis the occupation forces storm the villages and fire rubber-coated metal bullets and sound bombs towards Palestinian citizens and their homes injuring dozens of them in different parts of their bodies and detaining everyone the forces can capture, and the arguments are always the same.
As long as the Israeli pressures increase, the Palestinians' resistance intensifies as the people adhere to their right to live and worship in their mosques, as we saw on Friday how thousands of worshipers performed prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, despite strict military measures imposed by Israeli occupation authorities at the gates and entrances of the Old City of occupied Jerusalem. Although Israel deployed forces in the streets of the city and the vicinity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, the number of worshipers reached 50,000 according to the Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem.
Some may think this is happening because of Israel’s nationalist-religious government, a coalition which includes far-right parties, but this is because of the nature of the Israeli state since its establishment in 1948, of implementing the policy of scorched earth, of land usurpation, mass killing and forced displacement of Palestinians practising the worst types of human rights violations.
However, these practices will make Israel a pariah state that practices racial discrimination in its worst forms, and this is what made an important country like Australia review its policy towards it. Friday the Australian Foreign Ministery announced that the government will officially reinstate the term “Occupied Palestinian Territories” and consider Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal. The step was welcomed by the State of Qatar, considering the announcement a positive stance that reflects the Australian government’s commitment to international law and resolutions of international legitimacy, and at the same time reinforces all efforts aimed at achieving a just, comprehensive, and sustainable peace on the basis of the principle of the two-state solution.
Qatar reiterated its firm position on the just of the Palestinian Cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people in establishing their independent state on the 1967 borders with its capital in East Jerusalem.
