The relationship between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Moldova goes back to 1997 when the two states signed a protocol establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries. The official visit of the Prime Minister of Moldova H E Natalia Gavrilita has coincided with the 25th anniversary of the diplomatic ties of the two countries which are based on the mutual respect and the desire of both sides to develop these relations to the best for the common interest of both countries.
Over the past years, the two sides have signed several agreements covering wide a range of areas for cooperation and to enhance the relations in sectors of culture, education, higher education and scientific research and for cooperation in health and medical sciences.
The relations have also witnessed promising steps with the visit as the two countries singed an agreement on the abolition of entry visas for holders of ordinary passports between the two countries and an agreement on technical, scientific and economic cooperation in the field of agriculture.
During the official talks session yesterday, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova H E Natalia Gavrilita, the two sides discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to develop and strengthen them in various fields, in addition to discussing the latest regional and international situations of mutual interest.
H E Gavrilita praised the strong relations with Qatar, noting that she is looking forward to strengthening these relations, especially in the trade and investment fields. The continuously developing relations with the Republic of Moldova is creating further investment opportunities for Qatari investors in various sectors, including agriculture, infrastructure, medical tourism, tourism and others.
Her call on Qatari investors in light of the good and promising ties was welcomed by the Qatar Chamber, reflecting an agreement that creates favourable opportunities for businessmen from both countries to take advantage of the available capabilities and opportunities and the investment climate in both countries.
With the two states marking the 25th anniversary of their diplomatic ties and visits of top officials, both sides are showing desire and determination to strengthen bilateral relations moving to closer cooperation.
The friendly relations of the two countries have aspirations for joint action and implementation of the agreements signed in various fields to serve the interests of both the countries and their people.
