QATAR and Iran have distinguished historic relations based on friendship, good neighbourliness, mutual respect and common interests. The bilateral relationship is built on a solid basis and has witnessed a remarkable development, growing stronger over the years.

The official visit of the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday to Iran was preceded by a visit by H E President Ebrahim Raisi to Doha in February, in his first official visit to a Gulf Cooperation Council country.

President Raisi participated in the Gas Exporting Countries Forum held in Doha at the time. The two countries also signed 14 agreements for greater cooperation in aviation, trade, shipping, media, and cancellation of visa requirements, electricity, education, and culture.

This showed the significance of bilateral ties. The discussions of the leaders ranged from the expansion of bilateral ties, topics of common interest and regional security, where the two sides agreed on the importance of all working in the region to resolve conflicts, reduce tension and make the region in a better situation, including serving its people.

The leaders of the countries seek ways to support their relations and cooperation and develop them, especially in the fields  of economy,  trade,  and  investment sectors for the benefit of the two countries and peoples.
