The entire world witnessed once again the extraordinary abilities of Qatar when it comes to staging amazing world class events. This was evident when the state-of-the-art Education City Stadium hosted two of world football’s giants, European heavyweights Bayern Munich and CONCACAF winners Tigres UANL in a blockbuster final in which the German team emerged FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2020 champions on Thursday night.

While Bayern clinched their second Club World Cup title in Doha, Qatar won the hearts of football lovers around the globe. Qatari authorities, specially the Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Interior, security and healthcare workers joined their hands with FIFA to deliver a spectacular Club World Cup hosting the biggest names in world football at two of Qatar’s shining stadiums, Education City and Ahmad Bin Ali Stadiums.

The premier Club tournament was one of only few events which allowed fans to attend and watch their favourite stars in action under strict safety regulations while most of global sport continues to be out of bounds for fans amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Seeing the successful organisation of the event, FIFA President Gianni Infantino lauded the plans undertaken by Qatar to prepare for the 2022 FIFA World Cup despite the COVID-19 pandemic disrupting everyday life around the world.
Infantino made the remarks before attending the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2020 final at the Education City Stadium yesterday. “When Qatar says ‘we will do this’, you can be sure it’s done. You can be sure; and I have to say, I have not seen it (such confidence) anywhere yet,” Infantino said in a TV interview conducted before the final match.

Meanwhile, Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy and Qatar 2022 Chairman, Hassan Al Thawadi, has underlined that organizing a huge sporting event of the size of the FIFA Club World Cup, in the midst of difficult circumstances of COVID-19 that the entire world is going through, would not have been possible without the continuous efforts, competence, resourcefulness of the national stakeholders.

Al Thawadi said: “Delivering an event of this magnitude during the challenging times we’re all experiencing is an effort that relies on the continuous resilience and resourcefulness of all our national stakeholders. I am extremely proud of the work undertaken by our Local Organizing Committee, in close collaboration with the relevant national authorities, to deliver a safe and successful FIFA Club World Cup for fans, players and officials.”
