Towards smart future

Qatar is among the countries which are fast adopting smart, innovative technologies to shape a better tomorrow for its people and businesses. These innovative technologies also help achieving the targets related to ensure sustainability which is Qatar’s top priority in development.  

To introduce latest innovations in smart solutions in the country and provide a platform to local companies, entities to make new partnerships with international IT companies, Qatar is set to host Qatar IT Conference and Exhibition (QITCOM 2019) this month.

Investment in emerging smart technologies is a key to build safer, smarter cities. Over 30,000 visitors, 300 exhibitors and 100 experts across the world are expected to participate in Qatar IT Conference and Exhibition (QITCOM 2019).

Featuring over 100 startups and 300 innovators and entrepreneurs, QITCOM 2019 – in its fifth edition – will be a one-stop-shop for participants to showcase smart technologies and exchange next-generation knowledge. 

The event will also have a range of activities to support entrepreneurship and innovation in the Entrepreneurship Zone including five key platforms that combine diverse digital sectors: Startup Hub, CodeCamp, Make the Deal, IdeaCamp and Innovation Theatre.

Startup Hub is an inspiring opportunity for mature and successful entrepreneurs to present their creative ideas at Qatar’s largest digital event, QITCOM 2019. Participants will comprise of a perfect mix of innovators, startups, future unicorns and entrepreneurs, who will have free access to showcase their innovations at QITCOM 2019. 

This year, the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) has also partnered with the organisers of Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC), Fira de Barcelona to launch Smart City Expo Doha (SCE Doha). 

The event will take place on October 30-31, 2019 at QITCOM 2019, under the theme, ‘Safe, Smart Cities’. Smart City Expo is a global platform committed to promote awareness and understanding of smart cities and the development of smart initiatives for a sustainable future. Fira de Barcelona has previously hosted several editions of the Smart City Expo in the Americas, Africa, Asia and Europe.  

Smart City Expo Doha, in its first edition in Qatar, aims to introduce innovative technologies to enhance the lives of citizens, residents and visitors through social inclusion, sustainability and empowerment.

QITCOM 2019 will welcome international delegations, local participants and exhibitors from around the world. 

At the conference, local and international speakers will address topics related to smart cities namely, cybersecurity, entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence and urban planning. The event will also accompany the Munich Security Conference’s main group meeting and the Round Table meeting on cybersecurity. MoTC has launched a special application for QITCOM on smartphones to facilitate communication between exhibitors and visitors.
