The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar at the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announced earlier this year that it commenced implementing the second and third packages of Doha Central Development and Beautification Projects including Doha Corniche.
Doha Corniche is the iconic seafront and one of the most attracting destinations in the city of Doha.
The projects aims to make Doha a city that meets the needs of its people, visitors and create memorable experiences by linking people to places through a convenient, safe and accessible public realm where Central Doha’s landmarks become points of getting together.
The authority believes that to achieve these goals it has to develop and beautify main streets and internal neighborhoods; in addition to the infrastructure development works that provide pedestrian-friendly transportation and crossing areas to promote a healthy lifestyle by providing parks and green spaces in various areas of the country.
The projects are being implemented in light of the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 that enhances the identity of Qatar’s historical and cultural legacy, and recognizes the natural environment of Qatar, while leading the transformation of infrastructure and public buildings in the country towards sustainable development and the nation into one of the most advanced countries in the region.
In light of the completion of the giant infrastructure projects and the World Cup projects, while we are only two months and a few days away from the World Cup, the projects of beautifying the city and preparing public squares are taking greater attention of the officials these days.
The inspection visit of the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani yesterday, comes as part of the efforts to achieve these goals. The visit was to inspect the latest developments of the Central Doha and Al Corniche Street project. The Prime Minister was briefed on the latest developments of the project and the mechanism of its implementation in a manner that goes in line with the regions infrastructure and public transportation, particularly those pertained to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
His Excellency was also briefed on the beautification and decorating works of Central Doha and Al Corniche Street and transforming them into an eco-friendly area.
Ashghal has accomplished throughout a decade a wide range of infrastructure programmes across the country, while managing and coordinating multiple projects and adopting best practices in infrastructure development and management to ensure Qatar’s infrastructure is on par with the most developed nations worldwide.
