Qatar Airways, the national carrier of the State of Qatar, is rebuilding its network further. The airline resumed flights yesterday to Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a daily service. The resumption of direct flights came after Saudi Arabia reopened its borders and airspace with Qatar last week, paving the way for a broader rapprochement.
Qatar Airways has also started rerouting many flights over the Saudi airspace after the Al-Ula agreement which the Gulf leaders signed on January 5 during the GCC summit in Saudi Arabia. On Twitter, Qatar Airways shared a video of the flight taking off from Hamad International Airport.
Qatar Airways had announced that it would restart daily service to Riyadh, four weekly flights to the Red Sea city of Jeddah and daily flights to the eastern city of Damman using wide-body aircraft. Qatar Airways will resume flights to Jeddah on January 14 and to Dammam on January 16. Likewise, the first flight from Riyadh landed in Doha last evening.
“We also look forward to resuming a strong relationship with our trade and cargo partners in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as the major airports in the country,” Qatar’s national airline said in a tweet recently.
Passengers from the KSA can once again enjoy the award-winning Qsuite, featuring sliding privacy doors and the option to use a ‘Do Not Disturb (DND)’ indicator. The Qsuite seat layout is a 1-2-1 configuration, providing passengers with one of the most spacious, fully private, comfortable, and socially distanced products in the sky.
Recently, Qatar Airways was ranked as second-safest airline globally in the list of ‘The Top 20 Safest Airlines for 2021’, according to AirlineRatings.com. The high ranking of Qatar Airways in the list is a result of series of safety measures taken by the multiple award-winning airline in the past. As the largest airline flying consistently throughout the pandemic, Qatar Airways accumulated unrivalled experience of how to safely and reliably carry passengers during these uncertain times. The airline led the industry in the implementation of new and robust safety measures to ensure that passengers are safe when travelling with it on board and on the ground.
The airline continues to expand its network, which currently stands at over 110 destinations with plans to increase to over 125 by the end of March this year. A multiple award-winning airline, Qatar Airways was named ‘World’s Best Airline’ by the 2019 World Airline Awards, managed by Skytrax. It is the only airline to have been awarded the coveted ‘Skytrax Airline of the Year’ title, which is recognised as the pinnacle of excellence in the airline industry, five times.
