As the State of Qatar has repeatedly reaffirmed its full commitment to peace and stability process in Afghanistan, it has also affirmed its commitment to support partners and allied countries in evacuations from Afghanistan and in providing the necessary platform for them to facilitate dialogue between them and the interim government of Afghanistan.

The State of Qatar is constantly urging the parties concerned with the situation in Afghanistan to engage in a national reconciliation dialogue that brings together the Afghans, as well continuously stressing the importance of adhering to internationals laws and agreements including the Doha Agreement reached between the US and the Taliban in 2020 and what was agreed upon in regard to the fight against terrorism.

In this context, the United States and the Taliban have resumed talks in Doha where senior officials from Taliban and representatives of the US held talks on Saturday and yesterday, the first in-person meeting since the US forces withdrew from Afghanistan in August and the Taliban took over control of the country after 20 years of US military presence.

The two parties concluded yesterday the two-day talks to find means to open a new page in their bilateral relations building on what has been agreed on in Doha last year.

This development confirms that the State of Qatar not only encourages the parties to reach an agreement but also works to follow up on the implementation of what has been agreed upon and brings the parties closer for a positive, cooperative relation that serves the Afghan people.

The State of Qatar is achieving diplomatic successes in this regard, thanks to its acclaimed role in the international arena where Qatar has become an effective and influential partner in peace making and is referred to globally for its role as a model country that respects its commitments.

No doubt that every Qatari today is proud of this distinguished role and position in handling regional conflicts and its active role in extinguishing fire of wars and achieve reconciliation.

Qatar believes that enhancing peace in Afghanistan and preserving what the people of Afghanistan have gained over the past years requires not to isolate Afghanistan, rather to invest in peace and stability by launching implementation of development programmes, creating jobs and addressing the root cause for migration and terrorism.

The State of Qatar is known for its serious and fruitful partnerships in promoting international peace, security, human rights; respect for the international obligations as well as its initiatives in various fields to support multilateral international action to confront common challenges within the framework of the Qatari diplomacy to implement the country’s foreign policy.
