Yesterday, Qatar University (QU) held the graduation ceremony for its male students in the presence of H H the Amie Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. This is the country’s premier tertiary institution’s 46th batch of graduating students – a milestone for QU, with greater heights still to come.

This year 3,913 students graduated with the following academic degrees: bachelor’s, diploma, master’s, doctorate, and doctor of pharmacy. The Amir honoured the 107 outstanding male graduate students, while QU President Dr. Hassan Al Derham handed certificates to 767 graduate students in various disciplines. Since it was established, QU has graduated over 64,000 students.

As a beacon of education and development, QU has contributed immensely to achieving the country’s goals and the aspiration of its leadership through its academic formation, institutional culture, outstanding scientific and research capabilities, and preparing generations of competencies and experiences.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, QU’s president said the institution is close to approving the university’s strategic plan for the next phase, in line with the Third National Development Strategy (2023-2030). This further shows QU’s relentless efforts to evolve, grow and meet national and international needs.

“We are working towards achieving and sustaining three integrated goals: quality in the educational process, excellence in scientific research, and advancement in institutional work and administrative efficiency … One of the fruits of these efforts was the university’s achievement this year of the highest level of institutional accreditation, WSCUC, Senior College and University Commission, one of the world’s leading academic accreditation institutions,” Dr. Al Derham said.

Meanwhile, QU has soared in global and regional rankings over the past year, becoming one of the top universities in the GCC, Arab world and globally. In the QS World University Rankings, QU has risen to 208th globally and is placed 226th by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. The institution is also second among Arab universities in both rankings.

The school has also earned accreditations for its programmes from some of the world’s top accrediting institutions. Dr. Al Derham says these accreditations align with QU’s commitment to fulfilling its national mission, alignment with its educational quality, collaborative efforts and transferring experiences to other institutions in the country to stimulate comprehensive growth.
