Unflinching quest for peace

QATAR is one among the most peace loving nations in the world and its unflinching quest for peace was revealed in various instances. The recent statement by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H E Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, is an ideal example to showcase this.

His Excellency affirms Qatar’s willingness still to reach a long-term solution to the Gulf crisis, in a manner that does not infringe on the sovereignty of Qatar and does not violate international law.

The nation also reaffirmed its readiness to work with the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council and international bodies to resolve the crisis through unconditional dialogue. Qatar’s approach towards conflicts like these projects a model of peace. It was on June 5, 2017, the neighbouring nations imposed an unjust siege on Qatar.

However, even after passing three years Qatar has neither deviated an inch from its stance nor resort to any means of measures to retaliate or take vengeance against the blockading countries.

The role of Qatar in the region to establish stability and peace is also noteworthy as it worked in well coordination with the GCC, since its establishment on May 25, 1981 which contributed to strengthening regional security and stability in the Gulf region and securing vital energy supplies to the entire world.

The State of Qatar leaves no stone unturned in its efforts to establish peace. The nation continues to strengthen the partnership with the UN to promote peace, security, and justice for all.

Qatar is of the opinion that blockade damaged the Gulf Cooperation Council, which is still “paralysed”, pointing that political disputes prevail over the needs of GCC peoples, as the blockade mentality is stronger. “We remain ready to discuss a long-term solution, as long as it does not infringe on our sovereignty and does not violate international law.

But it must be understood that this crisis was manufactured from scratch, with a smear and propaganda campaign against Qatar, which had no justification and continues to this day,” said the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H E Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

The nation holds a clear vision on all aspects of life, not just on issues or things that matter to the nation. The nation called for international cooperation for the complete eradication of COVID-19 and on issues over Tripoli conflict, West Bank annexation, Taliban pact etc, Qatar’s view was no different than standing firmly for peace.

The efforts of Qatar for global peace, prosperity and stability are really a ray of hope in the current chaotic world where global powers lock horns over various issues.
