Ooredoo announced yet another achievement recently, which elevated it as one of the fastest Internet provider in the world. Ooredoo rose 20 places in the recent home Internet Speed Test Global Index 2019 rankings, placing it ahead of international IT powerhouses such as Australia and the United Kingdom. The impressive average speed provided to Qatar households moved up to 70Mbps, an improvement underpinned by Ooredoo’s implementation of a new strategy increasing home Internet speeds to up to five time faster than before from February this year.

Commenting on the latest recognition, Ooredoo Qatar’s Chief Executive Officer Waleed Al Sayed said:  “We are rightfully proud of our fibre network and home Internet provision and proud our commitment and hard work is paying off. We are working tirelessly to provide the best coverage and highest speed to all homes across Qatar.”

Internet is playing a vital role in our daily life as it has become the most popular and important mode of communication, whether it is through different apps or Voice over Internet Protocol. Internet has become the hub of entertainment as the service speeds have improved tremendously over the recent years.

Some 15 years ago we all connected to the worldwide web using 56kb modems and photographs downloaded in stages and video wasn’t even an option. But broadband changed everything making it the most vital event for the Internet as it helped shape the Net for years to come. Web designers took advantage of improved speeds by building more graphic intensive websites and watching videos online has now become the norm.

The Internet speed is more important for businesses as it saves a lot of time and makes communication faster and in turn helps make faster decisions which leads to more profitability. With the advent of the high-speed Internet connections, work on the go, even while flying, has become a reality.

Ooredoo has been at the forefront in providing its customers with fastest bandwidth by embracing the most modern technology and relentlessly improving their services, most of the time charging customers nothing extra.

In May last year, Ooredoo won the gold medal winning the race to 5G as the carrier launched the ‘5G Supernet’, the first commercially available 5G network in the world. The service provider has already started upgrading its 1,200 network stations, providing a whole new digital life. Now customers can enjoy Internet from the serenity of the desert to the bustling malls.

Qatar’s Internet provider is revolutionising the way we use the Net and not only providing the best options for entertainment, but also keeping us connected to our loved ones even if they are in the farthest corners of the world.
