The horrific war on Gaza by the occupation forces continues as the world tries to reach a ceasefire agreement so that the attacks would stop and the much-required life-saving aid could reach the people of the Gaza Strip. Qatar has been at the forefront working along with Egypt and the US to reach a sustainable deal to end the suffering of the Palestinian people.
The escalation of violence in Gaza has left a trail of human suffering and destruction. The conflict has claimed over 27,500 lives, displaced thousands, and inflicted severe damage on vital infrastructure. Amidst this dire situation, international and regional negotiators are scrambling to secure a ceasefire and pave the way for humanitarian aid and long-term solutions.
Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met yesterday Secretary of State of the United States of America H E Antony Blinken, who is visiting the country as part of his visit to the region to find a deal to end the violence. HH the Amir emphasized the importance of concerted regional and global efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire, protect civilians, and deliver adequate and sustainable humanitarian assistance to all areas of the Gaza Strip.
Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani also met Blinken, and they discussed the efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip that paves the way for a just, comprehensive, and sustainable solution for the Palestinian cause. They discussed the resumption of exchanging detainees and prisoners. They also discussed increasing the pace of humanitarian aid due to the pressing and urgent needs, particularly water, food, and medicines.
The Prime Minister emphasized that ending the aggression on Gaza is not only the demand of the residents of the Gaza Strip but also the demand of all nations in the region and the world as the last weeks witnessed the war spilling over into the surrounding countries.
The importance of an immediate ceasefire can be gauged from the sad and horrific fact that 4,895 students were martyred and 8,514 were injured since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and West Bank.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza is dire. Hospitals are overwhelmed, infrastructure is damaged, and basic necessities are scarce. The UN estimates that a huge number of people are displaced, and a majority of the population relies on humanitarian aid. An immediate ceasefire is crucial to allow aid agencies to deliver life-saving assistance and begin the process of reconstruction.
