Stop genocide in Gaza

The massacres of civilians by Israeli forces continue unabated in the Gaza Strip, but the world community has largely been a mute spectator as no concrete action has been taken to stop the killing of women and children.

The unjustified bombing of Al Shifa Hospital west of Gaza City left dozens dead, and many more injured. The Israeli forces’ targeting of the UNRWA’s Al Fakhoora School, which shelters thousands of displaced people, in an airstrike on Saturday came on the heels of massacres at Jabalia refugee camp on Tuesday and Wednesday, leaving hundreds dead and injured.

The killings of innocent people in Gaza Strip have not stopped since the start of the Israeli aggression on October 7. Schools, hospitals, educational institutions, mosques, cemeteries, and public and private property have been targeted by the Israeli army. Despite these war crimes and violation of international laws, the Western countries have not even condemned the killing of unarmed civilians.

Israel must be held accountable for the war crimes and those responsible for the killing of civilians must be brought to justice. The international community must act now.

Qatar condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli occupation forces’ bombing of the Al Fakhoora School in the Jabalia refugee camp and a number of hospitals in Gaza, considering these as brutal massacres and heinous crimes against defenceless civilians and a blatant violation of international laws.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated international community’s complicity in the war crimes because of its silence. It called on the global community to assume its responsibility and deter Israel from committing more crimes against civilians.

Qatar also renewed its firm stance for justice to Palestinians by ensuring their legitimate rights and the establishment of an independent state for them on the 1967 borders with east Jerusalem as its capital.

Meanwhile, Qatari efforts continue to support Palestinians in the Gaza Strip amid Israeli airstrikes. The country has stressed the need to open the Rafah crossing permanently and allow humanitarian aid into Gaza. Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in a meeting with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, Egypt, and US Secretary of State on Saturday discussed the need for reaching an immediate ceasefire and opening of the Rafah crossing.

The Prime Minister called on the international community to assume its moral and legal responsibility to provide protection to Palestinians and compel Israel to comply with international laws.
