Over the years the State of Qatar has invested considerably in promoting quality education for its young generation, be it by setting up world-class infrastructure in educational institutions or by inviting top-notch global institutions to set up campuses in the country allowing local and regional students access to the latest and advanced course materials in various fields. The State has also implemented multiple campaigns to promote learning and create an enlightened generation that will take charge of the future without compromising the cultural identity.
It is important to create an intellectual milieu conducive to achieving excellence and it should encourage every student to strive for the best. As many intellectuals have said before, education is the passport to the future and helps create men and women who are capable of doing things in a better way. The Education Excellence Award by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education is one such effort by the State to promote a culture of creativity and excellence in Qatar. Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani honours outstanding students, teachers, researchers and schools every year and nominations for the 17th edition of the award will be accepted from October 1.
The contestants will compete in nine categories including excellent student (primary, preparatory and secondary school), excellent student (university level), excellent teacher, excellent scientific research, excellent master’s degree holder, excellent PhD degree holder, and excellent school.
Since its inception in 2006, the Education Excellence Award has evolved into a lasting educational and developmental tradition that embodies a profound vision, mission, and set of objectives. Rooted in a commitment to nurturing the human element, particularly exceptional students across all educational tiers, it underscores their pivotal role in advancing Qatar’s national vision and aspirations.
The Education Excellence Awards will honour individuals, institutions, and research works that are outstanding and contribute to the betterment of the community. Recognising individuals and institutions, who have achieved exceptional academic results, such as high student performance, research output, or innovative teaching methods, will motivate others to emulate the higher standard of excellence set by the winners of these awards.
