LET'S all get vaccinated. This is the message which has been shared by all senior health officials in the recent times as Delta variant of COVID-19 is seeing a surge in many countries around the world.

Most health experts around the world have said that vaccination is the best way out of this pandemic, which has engulfed the whole world and disrupted the day-to-day life of everyone.

Even Qatar, which has seen a large amount of its population gets inoculated against the coronavirus, has pushed ahead the plan to open up completely as a precautionary measure. With many people returning to Qatar from travel abroad in the next three weeks and with the Delta strain circulating in Qatar and many countries around the world, it is risky to move to the full Phase 4, Dr. Abdullatif Al Khal, Chair of the National Health Strategic Group on COVID-19 and Head of Infectious Diseases at Hamad Medical Corporation, said in a statement.

A few days back many senior officials from the Ministry of Public health urged citizens and residents in Qatar to get vaccinated when their turn comes as it will help the society to come out of the threat of COVID-19 as the vaccines administered in Qatar are effective against the current variants, many studies around the world have proved.

More people are vaccinated and protected from the virus, the greater our chances of winning the long-term battle against COVID-19 and getting our life back to normal. For this, we, as responsible residents have to follow the directions of the health authorities, however uncomfortable those may be.

“The new variants of the virus are more contagious and more serious, so it is more important than ever to get vaccinated. I would ask these people to think about the way in which the virus has negatively affected all our lives for almost a year and a half and ask them to understand that the vaccines provide a route out of this pandemic,” Dr. Khal said yesterday.

Many countries are seeing a spike in their COVID-19 cases in recent days as Delta variant is a cause of worry. The one positive news is that the many vaccines can fight the variants effectively, especially the ones administered in Qatar.

We need as many people as possible to play their part and to get vaccinated. Please, get vaccinated; protect yourself, your loved ones and the community, a health official urged all. It is time for us to do our duty and get vaccinated. And follow all the instructions by the authorities so that the normal pre-pandemic life comes back and we can all step out of our home without fear.
