Stop assaulting Al Aqsa worshippers

THE Israeli scheme of usurping the Palestinian lands piece by piece since the establishment of the so-called State of Israel is continuing with no opposition to implementing its expansionist goals. Israel is taking advantage of the international situation favourable to its interests and aggressive goals, and the reluctance of the international community to assume its illegal and moral responsibilities towards the defenseless Palestinian people.

Under the pretext of religious and political occasions, Israel is storming the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque while the actual plan is to divide this sacred site. Recent weeks have witnessed several rounds of Jew extremist settlers’ storming the mosque which led to clashes with the Israeli police at the compound.

Yesterday’s clashes have resulted in the injury of 12 people and the arrest of about 50 Palestinian youths from the courtyards of Al-Aqsa. The Palestinian Authority (PA) and many Palestinian organizations have repeatedly warned against Israeli attempts to “partition” the Muslim holy site Al-Aqsa Mosque between Muslims and Jews.

Israel realizes its experience in the occupied Palestinian city of Al-Khalil (Hebron) and its illegitimate division of the Ibrahimi Mosque between the vast majority of Muslims residing there and a few Jewish extremist settlers who have passed with no deterrence under the silence and collusion of the international community.

Perhaps this and the global geopolitical situation is encouraging the Israeli occupying forces to continue its division plan of “time and place”, but this is undermining the Palestinian determination to fight for their legitimate rights.

The Palestinian response to the Israeli raids and violations at the sacred Al-Aqsa Mosque was strong, where clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinians stationed in Al-Aqsa have foiled the Israeli attempts and forced the occupation authorities to stop Jewish extremist settlers from storming under military protection. The current move of the settlers which comes under the pretext of coinciding with Israel's celebration of what it calls the 74th "Independence Day" has also been thwarted by the Palestinians.

The State of Qatar condemned in the strongest terms the storming of dozens of Israeli settlers of Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces and the storming of the Al-Qibli prayer hall and the assault on worshipers and civilians in the mosque. Similar condemnations of the Israeli practices have come from Arab and Muslim countries.

They have strongly condemned the act and reiterated support for the rights of Palestinians to protect the Al-Aqsa Mosque as all realize that the battle is not related to an incident, but rather it is an "open and extended in time and space on the land of Palestine” as a Palestinian official stated
