The unveiling of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Emblem is a source of pride for Qataris, residents and the entire Arab world. The official unveiling took place in Qatar’s capital, Doha, at 20:22 local time, with thousands of spectators witnessing the synchronized projection of the emblem onto a number of the country’s most iconic buildings. September 3 was chosen as the date for the unveiling of the emblem, coinciding with Qatar Independence Day, on September 3, 1971.
Thousands of citizens and residents in Qatar expressed their admiration for this unique design of the emblem, which mimics and reflects the overall dimension of the tournament as a platform for meeting cultures from around the world while incorporating elements inspired by the Qatari and Arab culture that harmonizes with the components of the game of football.
The emblem was launched through the latest digital technology simultaneously in 24 countries, and in a single moment, and that millions of people of the globe witnessed the dazzling event, whether through giant screens in the fields of many capitals and cities of the world or through digital media platforms.
The emblem is very distinctive and innovative and takes inspiration from the Qatari culture and heritage.
The swooping curves of the emblem represent the undulations of desert dunes and the unbroken loop depicts both the number eight — a reminder of the eight astonishing stadiums that will host matches — and the infinity symbol, reflecting the interconnected nature of the event.
Besides echoing the shape of the iconic FIFA World Cup Trophy, the emblem’s central form takes inspiration from a traditional woolen shawl. During winter months, shawls are worn around the world and in the Arab and Gulf region in particular by a variety of people and in various styles.
One also needs to praise the outstanding arrangements made by the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) in completing the launch of the official emblem. Qatar has officially opened two host stadiums, the Khalifa International Stadium in 2017 and the Al Janoub Stadium in the middle of this year. Qatar is set to host many important events this year, starting with the 2019 IAAF 2019 World Athletics Championships, the 2019 World Beach Games, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Qatar is completing all projects related to the World Cup according to the planned schedule, and even at an accelerated pace despite the unjust siege. Qatar succeeded in making the event universal to confirm that the World Cup 2022 will strengthen bonds of friendship around the world. All in all, the 2022 Qatar World Cup will be historical in all respects.
