Giving Gazans their right to survive

In a region where humanitarian needs are escalating by the hour, Qatar’s establishment of a first aid station at HH The Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani Hospital in northern Gaza stands as a rare symbol of action over rhetoric.

Funded by the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), this emergency response point is not just a temporary fix—it is a moral lifeline in a health system teetering on the brink of collapse.

Over the past few weeks alone, the hospital has treated over 2,500 injured individuals and received nearly 220 martyrs.

These numbers are not just statistics; they are a reflection of a catastrophic humanitarian crisis.

The rapid-response team, supported by Gaza’s Ministry of Health and the Palestinian Red Crescent, is working under impossible conditions: with scarce resources, collapsing infrastructure, and constant threats to their own safety.

Fahad Hamad Al-Sulaiti, Director General of Qatar Fund for Development, rightfully called out the international community’s silence, urging immediate action to ensure safe and unimpeded entry of aid.

His words highlight a grim truth: humanitarian aid is being weaponised, while civilians and aid workers continue to bear the barbaric acts of Israeli forces.

Yesterday only at least five Palestinians were killed and seven others were injured in Israeli drone strike on a group of humanitarian aid personnel at Al-Tawam Roundabout in the northern Gaza Strip.

This initiative, however vital, cannot operate in isolation.

Ahmad Naeem, Director General of the hospital, emphasized the urgent need for international medical support and equipment—resources deliberately blocked by the ongoing siege.

The moral responsibility is clear.

Qatar has done what too many have failed to: show up.

It is time for the world to follow suit, not just in words, but in deeds.

The people of Gaza are not asking for miracles—only the right to survive.

That must begin with an end to the blockade, an end to impunity, and the immediate, unconditional delivery of humanitarian aid.
