Qatar continues political and diplomatic efforts to communicate with all parties to reach a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Since the beginning of the Israeli aggression in Gaza Strip on Oct 7, the country played a pivotal role in brokering a truce in Gaza which ended on Friday with resumption of hostilities.
World leaders repose trust in Qatar as a reliable mediator for conflict resolution. The country has become the centre of diplomatic efforts to end bloodshed and find a just solution to the Palestinian issue since the beginning of the war.
French President HE Emmanuel Macron who came to Doha to discuss Gaza ceasefire efforts met Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Saturday. H H the Amir stressed the importance of joint international efforts for a permanent ceasefire to protect civilians and deliver aid.
H H the Amir discussed the situation in Gaza and diplomatic efforts for a truce during a phone call from US Vice-President H E Kamala Harris. Harris thanked the Amir for his efforts for truce in Gaza and the delivery of aid.
Qatar expressed regret in a statement at the resumption of the hostilities. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Qatar continues negotiations between Israel and Hamas for a humanitarian pause and delivery of aid.
The ministry said that the resumption of Israeli bombing has complicated the mediation efforts and exacerbated the humanitarian catastrophe in the enclave, and called on the global community to play its role in ending the war. The ministry reiterated its condemnation of targeting civilians, the policy of collective punishment and forced displacement of Gazzans.
In a latest episode of massacre of Palestinians, an Israeli air strike on a building killed over 100 in the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip. Families and displaced people were taking shelter there.
Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed in Israeli air raids in the past 24 hours in Gaza as the Israeli army ordered more areas in and around the enclave’s second-largest city of Khan Younis to evacuate. Director-General of the Government Media Office in Gaza said yesterday that more than 700 Palestinians have been killed since Israel resumed bombardment after a seven-day truce ended on Friday.
A total of 15,500 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip since October 7. The number of injured in the Palestinian enclave has surpassed 40,000, with 70 percent of them being children and women.
